Are We Not Human?
As civilizations fall to ruin
And empires decay
We can cling to that oh-so-precious hope
Or maybe you’ll despair as I tend to do
When the poor are left to the rising tides
And wars are waged over water
Who will we blame?
Are we not human?
Because the darkness in me is in you
And the light in your eyes is in mine too
Empire
Who can withstand empire,
and who can hear their cries?
They fight
against the boot on their throat,
and we cannot hear them
Don’t feel the pressure
on our necks
the cries
as our very own
Don’t realize the truth
until it threatens
to break us
until it’s too late
And our cries go unheard
